The iGEM Competition is an annual, worldwide synthetic biology event aimed at undergraduate university students, as well as high school and graduate students.

The iGEM Competition gives students the opportunity to push the boundaries of synthetic biology by tackling everyday issues facing the world. Multidisciplinary teams work together to design, build, test, and measure a system of their own design using interchangeable biological parts and standard molecular biology techniques.

The Global NGO Executive Committee (GNEC) and its 1,600 subsidiaries have come together to host our third GNEC Hackathon! We encourage those passionate about engineering, technology, and programming to join this event to demonstrate their skills while competing for prizes such as internships and mentorships with our partners.

During the event, participants will have several weeks to work on a project addresing one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This could be anything ranging from an app or a website to creating a physical product or drafting a buisness plan.
